This policy describes how Bijou (“we”) collects and uses information in the Bijou iOS app. It matches the shipping build: phone sign-in, no Sign in with Apple, and consumable bijou packs purchased through Apple In-App Purchase.
Information we collect
- Account: phone number, user ID, name, date of birth (to confirm you are 18+).
- Profile: photos, videos, bio, gender, who you want to meet, relationship intent, city, and optional details you add.
- Location: approximate city and, if you allow it, precise coordinates used only for nearby matching.
- Content you create: messages, voice clips, questionnaires, event details, and optional emails for event invites.
- Identity checks: a live selfie compared to your profile photos (face match / liveness). That is sensitive biometric data used only for verification.
- Usage and diagnostics: feature use, app version, and limited client logs to keep the service working. We do not use a third-party crash reporter in this version.
- The Pulse: your device timezone so the 9:07 window starts locally, plus a short-lived presence heartbeat while you are in the room. Heartbeats expire in seconds, and Pulse rooms are deleted after two days.
- Safety and fraud: IP address, approximate network location (country, region, city), network provider (ASN), and a device identifier. We use these to detect scams, fake accounts, and multi-account abuse. Session logs are kept about 90 days. Hashes that link accounts may last while the account exists. Other users never see this information.
- Purchases: Apple processes bijou pack payments. We receive a transaction identifier from Apple and credit your in-app balance. We do not collect or store your full payment card number.
How we use it
We use this information to run matching, messaging, events, safety (block, report, scam checks, multi-account detection), and account deletion. AI is part of bijou. We may send parts of your profile, messages, or voice to our servers, which may call trusted AI providers to generate a reply or insight.
We do not sell your personal information. This version does not offer subscriptions. Consumable bijou packs are sold through Apple In-App Purchase; Apple handles payment processing.
Sharing
Other users see what you put on your profile and what you send them. Service providers host infrastructure and AI processing under contract. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect users.
Your choices
Update your profile in the app. Control camera, microphone, photos, and location in iOS Settings. Delete your account in Settings → tap your photo (“Manage account”) → Delete Account. Privacy requests: support@meetbijou.com.
Children
Bijou is only for adults 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
